Faust & Company's original take on a Classic mask. The Bauta mask was a well known Venetian mask style used by the aristocracy to mingle with the commoners during festive events. The flared mouth allowed the wearer to eat and drink and still remain anonymous.
These masks are carefully crafted one at a time in my Northern California studio. The base is vacu-formed styrene plastic (90 mil) which is thick and durable. Is has been hand coated on the backside with non-toxic rubber for added strength and to give the interior a softer feel against the skin. The finish is painstakingly applied crackle media and acrylic paint, ultimately sealed with multiple layers of water based varnish. It is held on with a durable, adjustable elastic cord.
